iPhone and Apple Watch provide some awesome features when it comes to health and fitness, but they also include important ways to get help in case of an accident, injury, and more. So make sure your Medical ID is set up or up to date, along with how to customize the SOS settings on iPhone and Apple Watch.
About Medical ID
Medical ID allows users to store important health information along with emergency contact details that first responders can access from the power off screen on iPhone and Apple Watch. As for SOS, there are two ways to activate the emergency feature.
Apple’s Medical ID is the digital version of these old paper cards. It lives inside the Health app in iOS 12, but anyone is able to access it from the iPhone’s lock screen just by tapping a button.
How to Create an iPhone Medical ID In the Health App
An iOS device running iOS 8 or higher.
Begin by tapping the Health app to open it.
In the bottom right corner of the app, tap Medical ID.
The first time you do this, you’ll see a screen explaining what it is. Tap Create Medical ID to continue.
Also don’t forget you can add more than one emergency contact, if fact you can add over two dozen.
Fill Out Information for Medical ID
Your Medical ID is a screen full of crucial information about your health and emergency contact information. Because of that, creating one is as simple as filling out a form. That information includes your name and date of birth, any medical conditions you have and medical notes you wish to type, as well as medications you take, allergies and reactions you have, your weight and height, blood type, and organ donor status. It also contains a section for emergency contacts. You can enter as many emergency contacts as you like. Their contact information entered here will enable a first responder to contact them from your iPhone even if it is locked.
