Ayushmann Khurrana Biography
Ayushmann Khurrana is an Indian film actor, singer and anchor. He started his career as a television anchor. He has received the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for movie Vicky Donor. Ayushmann Khurrana got noticed on TV at the age of 17 on Channel V PopStars in 2002. He is the winner of Reality show Roadies 2 at the age of 20.
Early Life of Ayushmann Khurrana
Ayushmann Khurrana was born on 14 September 1984 in Chandigarh, Punjab. His father P Khurrana is a writer on the subject of a politician, astrologer and his mother Poonam Khurrana is a house. His brother Aparshakti Khurrana is a radio jockey at OYE 104.8 FM in Delhi and in 2016 he started his career in Aamir Khan’s film ‘Dangal’. Ayushmann Khurrana studied in St. John’s High School and DAv College in Chandigarh. He played a major role in English literature and achieved a master’s degree in Mass Communication from the School of Communication Studies at Punjab University in Chandigarh. He did the theater for five years. He was the founding member of DAV College’s theater group Aaghaaz and Manchtantra in Chandigarh. He has won several awards in national college festivals such as Mood Indigo (IIT Bombay), OASIS (Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani) and St. Bedes Simla. Ayushmann Khurrana changed the spelling of his name by adding an additional ‘n’ and ‘r’ for better luck in the film industry.
Personal Life of Ayushmann Khurrana
In the year 2011, Ayushmann Khurrana got married to his childhood friend Tahira Kashyap. Tahira Kashyap is an author and a lecturer in Mumbai. Their parents were family friends. They studied together for their master’s degree in Mass Communication at Punjab University. They have two children, a son Virajveer Khurrana and a daughter named Varushka Khurrana Tahira Kashyap is an author and a lecturer in Mumbai.
Career as a Television Anchor
After completing his studied he worked as a radio jockey in BIG FM, Delhi. He hosted the several shows such as Big Chai-Maan Na Maan and Main Tera Ayushmann and won the Young Achievers Award in 2007. He was the youngest recipient of the Bharat Nirman Award in New Delhi. In 2002, Ayushmann Khurrana started his career with Reality T.V. Show PopStars. The show was broadcasted on Channel V. Ayushmann Khurrana was the youngest competitor in the show. In 2004, he won Roadies 2 at the age of 20.
After Radio, Ayushmann Khurrana worked in several MTV shows such as MTV Fully Faltoo Movies, Cheque De India, Jaadoo Ek Baar Pepsi MTV Wassup and The Voice of Youngistaan as a video jockey. After this, he hosted television with a multi-talented reality show India’s Got Talent, Colors TV, in which he worked with Nikhil Chinapa. He also hosted the Star Plus reality show Music Ka Maha Muqqabla and Just dance.
Apart from hosting Colors in the second season of MTV Rock On and India’s Got Talent, Ayushmann Khurana was also part of the Extra Innings T20 team for the Indian Premier League Season 3 on SET Max, which included Gaurav Kapur, Samir Kochhar and Angad Bedi.
Career as an Actor
In 2012, he worked in Shoojit Sircar’s film ‘Vicky Donor’ with Yami Gautam. Despite its small budget, the film became a major commercial success and received critical acclaim. In the movie he also sang the song “Pani Da Rang” by Rochak Kohli. The film and the song received huge success. He did Rohan Sippy’s movie ‘Nautanki Saala’ with Pooja Salvi, Kunal Roy Kapoor and Evelyn Sharma. He has also sung the song Saadi Galli Aaja in this movie. The film received a positive review from critics.
In 2014, Khurana’s Yash Raj Films’ film was’ Bewakoofiyaan ‘, directed by Nupur Asthana, in which he starred alongside Sonam Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor. He was also a playback singer for this movie’s song “Khamkhaan”, with Neeti Mohan. The film was commercially unsuccessful at box-office. He worked in several movies like Hawaizaada and Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015). The movie was successful at box office. He was also a part of PETA ad campaign.
He starred in Akshay Roy’s romance drama film Meri Pyaari Bindu with Parineeti Chopra. In 2017, Ayushmann Khurana appeared in films Bareilly Ki Barfi and Shubh Mangal Savdhan received critical and popular acclaim and became commercially successful. Recently his movie Badhai ho has been released and the movie is receiving lots of Appreciation.
He has sung in several songs like O Heeriye, Yahin Hoon Main, IK Vaari, etc.
